Propagation Net Information – October 28, 2021

Regular Thursday Night Net Schedule

The Thursday Night Net is moving to the 4th Thursdays of each month at 7:00 pm Central on the following frequencies. 146.540 MHz (primary) w/o Tones [147.540 MHz (backup) w/o Tones]. Our focus on this net will be propagation studies. Behind the scenes, we continue to develop our propagation application to improve the effectiveness of these studies.

Each net is preceded by a Zoom meeting which starts at 6:15 pm CST to answer questions, provide instruction, and general discussion regarding simplex operations. The Zoom link will appear on this webpage in advance of the meetings.

Additional activities and drills will be announced on this web page as they are developed. 

GHSN Objectives

  • Promote Amateur Radio Fun: To have fun with amateur radio by promoting VHF simplex opportunities in the Greater Houston area.
  • Encouragement: Encourage hams to explore the potential of radio equipment while providing opportunities to test, learn, improve, optimize and and operate radio stations.
  • Community: Develop a sense of ham communities among radio operators within their local areas and connections to the larger ham community beyond.
  • Agility: Develop deeper understanding of personal equipment enabling agile radio capabilities among area hams.
  • Procedures: Provide tested and effective VHF simplex procedures and practice opportunities to use and share with others in the hobby.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve all of the above through practice and drills.
