  • We have made changes to our website. If, for example, you are looking for information on the Propagation Net, please click on the new tab above.
  • We have incorporated a subscriber suggestion to provide links to past Propagation Net results. Just click on the live link on the schedule under the Propagation Net tab.
  • Because we want to fully serve the simplex ham community we will shortly be sending out a questionnaire for your input. Please make sure you are subscribed so that you will receive this and other correspondences.
  • It is very important that Propagation Net participants check in prior to the net. The Propagation Net is different from other nets we have participated in. Unplanned communications during the Propagation Net is discouraged as it will likely will compromise the results.

Propagation Exercise

The monthly propagation exercise is to test our equipment and see where improvements can be made by seeing how far we can transmit and receive.

Simplex Net

The Simplex Net is the actual test that we implement in case of a storm or other event that may affect communications. Randon drills are offered periodically.

Buddy System

Those involved in the GHSN are encouraged to keep in touch with one another from time to time to check on status and make sure we are all on the same page.

GHSN Objectives

  3. Community: Develop a sense of ham communities among radio operators within their local areas and connections to the larger ham community beyond.
  4. Agility: Develop deeper understanding of personal equipment enabling agile radio capabilities among area hams.
  5. Procedures: Provide tested and effective VHF simplex procedures and practice opportunities to use and share with others in the hobby.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve all of the above through practice and drills.
